When Hosta 'Curly Fries' is grown in the ground
franchetianum 'Hugo' emerges in late June (NC) to produce large tripartite (3-parted) leaves
flowering on Zephyranthes 'Big Dude' starts in early summer and continues until frost
we have found the drought-tolerant Acis autumnalis to be very easy to grow in both sun and part shade
Lycoris rosea Satsuma Hiryu 3a When Hosta 'Curly Fries' isLycoris 'Satsuma Hiryu' is a superb Japanese selection of Lycoris x rosea (Lycoris sprengeri x radiata), that produces 21" tall stalks, starting for us in mid August. The terminal clusters of flowers emerge flaming red with blue tips, and ages toward raspberry. After flowering, the foliage emerges in mid October and grows through the winter, until disappearing in early spring.
